Ra’Chel Alexander is an acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media artist whose work explores the human experience through vulnerability, mythology, and quiet defiance. Originally from North Carolina, she became an active force in the Grand Forks, North Dakota art community between 2016 and 2020, where she exhibited widely, held leadership roles within public arts organizations, curated gallery spaces, and organized large-scale art events.

After an extended artistic hiatus, Alexander reentered the art scene in 2023, and in 2025 relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. This return marked a deliberate shift toward a more inward, studio-centered practice. Having spent years building and sustaining creative communities, she now prioritizes depth, personal growth, and conceptual development within her work.

Her practice is deeply narrative-driven, often unfolding in chapters rather than isolated pieces. Drawing inspiration from mythology, literature, music, and lived experience, Alexander explores themes of autonomy, connection, loss, and resilience. The human form appears throughout her work not as an object, but as a vessel, carrying memory, desire, grief, and power. Hands recur as a central motif, symbolizing agency and the invisible threads that bind people to one another.

Alexander’s recent work confronts issues of bodily autonomy, historical persecution, and contemporary social injustice, alongside quieter explorations of intimacy and remembrance. Through a balance of tenderness and confrontation, her work invites reflection, empathy, and recognition, offering viewers space to see their own stories mirrored within the work.
